Hottest summer ever, and now, there's proof

August of 2011 now the all time warmest month on record in Tyler, Longview, and Lufkin.

The National Weather Service also confirmed late Wednesday that the Summer of 2011 is the hottest summer on record in all three of these cities.

In Tyler, the monthly temperature for August was 92.6 degrees, breaking the previous record for the hottest month, which was 90.9 degrees in July of 2011.

The entire summer also topped the charts at an average temperature of 90.1 degrees, up from 87,1 degrees in 1998.

In Longview, August of 2011 came in at 91.6 degrees, 2 degrees higher than the previous hottest month, which was July of 1998.

The summer average for Longview was 89.1 degrees, breaking the record of 86.9 degrees set in 1934.

In Lufkin, temperatures for August came in at 89.7 degrees, 2 degrees hotter than the 87.7 degree mark set in July of 1998.

The summer average for Lufkin came in at 87.1 degrees, shattering the old record of 86 degrees set in 1934.
