Disabled Girl Takes Special Ride

She's spent her whole life overcoming the odds. Now thanks to a little help, she's able to do something she's always wanted to do. You've seen Joy Lynn Stricklen on Channel 7 many times before.

The 8-year-old was born with a debilitating condition, making walking almost impossible. Today Joy Lynn realized one of her dreams, riding a bicycle.

The bike is specially designed and comes from Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. Joy Lynn's father, Tommy Stricklen, says there is nothing better than watching his daughter succeed.

"No parent expects to be the parent of a handicap child but I imagine if you ask any parent whose gone through surgeries and stuff with their children and you ask them is it as easy as you thought it was, no, but was it worth it, yeah every bit."

The bike is just a loaner. The Stricklen's hope to buy one just like it for Joy Lynn to keep permanently.
