POSSUM KINGDOM LAKE, Texas (AP) - Dozens of children at a summer camp are being evacuated as a fast-moving wildfire is raging near a North Texas lakeside community.
The Texas Forest Service says the Tuesday afternoon fire has spread to about 3,000 acres in Palo Pinto County.
YMCA spokeswoman Sarah Byrom told KTVT in Dallas-Fort Worth that the kids are safe at Camp Grady Spruce at Possum Kingdom Lake. But because some area roads are closed and more may be shut down later, buses are being sent to pick up the kids. The camp is part of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.
Possum Kingdom Lake the same community where some 160 homes were destroyed in an April wildfire that burned in three counties for two weeks.
It's about 75 miles west of Fort Worth.
