GUN BARREL CITY, TX (KLTV) - Residents came together Monday evening to have a sunset rain dance in Gun Barrel City.
Ironically, the dance was actually scheduled for last week, but was canceled due to rain. Monday however, the community came together to have a few laughs in the midst of this terrible Texas drought. Matt Wright hosted the rain dance on his property across from Tom Finley Park around 7:45 p.m.
"Rain dance? Have you seen our lake lately? Yeah, it is about five and half feet short. I came out here and thought well, what we are going to have to do to get this water up is have a rain dance. I brought the idea up to one or two people and they took it and ran. It's just been a blast getting together and watching everybody do this thing," Wright says.
Whether or not the dancing brings rain, Wright is happy the event brought the community together.
