Gregg county (KLTV) - A big brush fire threatens homes and torches around 15 acres in Gregg County earlier this evening.
It happened just before 5, just southwest of Liberty City, between I-20 and West Point Road.
911 calls brought several fire departments out to try to contain the blaze which was moving quickly towards several homes in the area.
Crews quickly worked to make a perimeter around the fire and stop it from getting to homes, but for some, it was too close.
Homeowner reverend Ricky Lawson says, "we pulled some clothes out and put them in the car and it was a little panic but then we calmed down and started praying."
The fire is now contained, and fortunately no homes were damaged.
The cause remains under investigation.
We do want to thank our viewers who called us to notify us of the fire, and those that sent us pictures.
