Dean sentenced in Winters Park murder of police informant

UPDATE 5:51 pm: Sharieff Dean has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Ronnie Dewayne Kemp.


TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Sharieff Dean was found guilty of murder by a jury on Thursday.

On July 5, 2010, Tyler Police found the body of Ronnie Dewayne Kemp in the 900 block of S. Peach Street at Winters Park.

Police say Kemp was a drug informant. Authorities believe that Dean killed Kemp because he suspected that Kemp turned him into police.

Dean, who is also the victim's brother-in-law, was arrested on September 29, and charged with capital murder for retaliation.

Dean's daughter, Amie Dean was arrested the following day. Amie is also charged with capital murder for retaliation.
