Baby locked in daycare after it closes

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Police and Fire broke into a daycare Wednesday night to rescue a 9-month-old who was locked inside after the center closed.

Police say one employee was arrested for child endangering, and they are questioning a second employee about the incident. Police used time cards to track down which employees closed the daycare Wednesday night.

The facility, Nana Ella's Day Care Center on St. Clair Avenue, closed at 6PM. Family members tell 19 Action News they were running late to pick up the baby, but the child's mother says nobody at the daycare called any of the family contacts to say the baby was still at the daycare.

The baby was not injured after being left alone in the center for one hour. She is safe with family.

The daycare has not responded to several calls placed by 19 Action News.
