East Texan Turns 100

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A Tyler woman turned 100-years-old today.

Miss Ailene Robinson joined family and friends at the Greater Hopewell Baptist Church to celebrate what they call "100 years of blessings."

There have been several changes in Miss Ailene's lifetime, but that doesn't bother her a bit. She says change is wonderful.

"Sometimes they say way back then, those were the good old days. Well, they weren't so good in one way, they weren't so good. We would have to get out in the field and chop cotton and do this and hoe this and that, that was a tough life. I didn't mind working, but you would have to go from sun up to sun down," she says.

A good work ethic was not the only thing Miss Ailene took away from her childhood.

"I take what my mother taught me and teach that to others. She taught me to serve the Lord and how to live a decent life. The best advice I can give is to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If you do that, you will live a happy life," she says.
