Arrest made in Tyler house fire

UPDATE: Tyler Deputy Fire Marshall James Suggs says police have arrested a man, John Beck, in connection with this fire. Officials say Beck is the ex-boyfriend of the woman who lived at the home.  He is charged with arson and currently booked into the Smith County jail.

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - On Monday the Tyler Fire Department responded to a two-alarm structure fire at 2828 North Whitten. Fire crews reported heavy smoke conditions upon arrival.  Five engines and one Ladder Company, along with a district chief and an investigator, were on the scene.

The Tyler Fire Marshal's Office says the fire started in the garage but is still investigating.

A crew of 25 men extinguished the fire in about 30 minutes.
