Nacogdoches Police arrest man believed to be connected to shooting death

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches Police have arrested a Lufkin man believed to be the partner-in-crime of another man who was shot dead during an apparent home invasion on South Ritchie Street Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Paul Peterson said detectives identified Cortny Randale Allen as the second suspect on Thursday and contacted him. Allen turned himself into police around midnight, Peterson said.

Peterson said the homeowner has been taken into custody and will be arrested on drug-related charges.

Allen and another man are believed to have invaded the home around 4:30 p.m. Someone at the home shot the second man to death and Allen fled the scene.

Peterson said detectives used cellphones at the scene to connect Allen as the second suspect.

"There were cellphones all over the place," Peterson said. "They just lined them all up and started calling numbers and were able to figure out it was Allen."

Peterson said details of the incident are not clear, but it appears the invasion was drug-related.

"There were narcotics located at the scene," Peterson said. "But we're still trying to figure out what's gone down."

Police have not yet released the names of the man who was killed or the homeowner in custody. The homeowner had yet to have been booked in the Nacogdoches County Jail as of 8:30 a.m. Friday.
