Could parts of E. Texas see rain?

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A strong line of thunderstorms is beginning to develop to our northwest and may affect parts of the area this evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas along and north of I-20 under a slight risk of severe storms.  The main threat would be strong gusty winds to 60 mph and numerous ground to ground lightning strikes.   With the ridge of high pressure of our area in the mid levels of the atmosphere, it will be tough for storms to develop much farther south than I-20.

It still looks as though it will be hot with highs reaching between 101 – 104 degrees and the heat index reach 108 later this afternoon.   Stay with your East Texas News Leader for the latest.
