UPDATE: 3,000 marijuana plants recovered in Wood Co.

Released by The Wood County Sheriff's Office:

UPDATE: The Wood County Sheriff's Office recovered over 3,000 marijuana plants from a wooded area at the end of County road 3824, Wednesday. The suspects in this case are still at large and no arrest have been made. Because this case is still under investigation no further information can be released at this time.

WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Wood County authorities discovered several marijuana fields last night on County Road 3824 off of FM 14 near the Pine Mills community.

While investigating a criminal trespass complaint at the dead end of County Road 3824, Wood County investigator David Barber discovered two large fields and one small field of marijuana.

While searching the fields, the sheriff's department found that each field had an elaborate watering system set up where each plant was receiving water. At this time, it is unknown how many plants have been located, but they spread over several acres of land.

The plants range from one foot tall to 12 feet tall. The Sheriff's Department is now in the process of collecting all the marijuana as evidence.

Two subjects that were on the property fled through the woods and are still at large.

Officials say the crop was close to harvest.

The plants will be gathered as evidence and destroyed at a later date.
