Girl, 4, donates own hair in honor of family members

JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) - A four-year old girl, who has never had a haircut in her life, decided she would donate her hair to Locks of Love.

Hannah Lanier decided to donate her hair, as members of her family struggle with cancer.

Since it is Hannah's first hair cut, mom could not help but have a few tears in her eyes.

"If she was going to do it, this is a really great cause to do it; I'm really so proud of her," said Jesse Lanier, Hannah's mother.

Hannah has three great-grandmothers, with cancer: ovarian, cervical and breast cancer.

"I've had it since she was born, so she knows what it's like for cancer, and that 'Mamah' lost her hair," said Shirley Gerulatt, Hannah's great grandmother who has ovarian cancer.

"We told her that there's a lot of little kids out there that have that, and go through that, and so she wanted to give her hair," said Jesse.

With an innocent and giving heart, Hannah's family already feels the impact she makes in the world.

Gerulatt said, "When you can teach them that tiny, that small to be giving, and she's a giver, it's a good mark on how she's going to grow up."

And with one little cut Hannah made a difference.

With a hug and a kiss, Gerulatt says, "Thank you Hannah from all the boys and girls, for sharing your pretty curls."

"You're welcome," said Hannah.

Hannah decided six months ago to donate her hair for locks of love, so she waited until she had a full ten inches of hair to give.
