TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A child was pulled from a swimming pool on his birthday, and thanks to an off-duty Tyler Police officer, he will see many more birthdays to come.

Officer Jimmy Turner revived three-year old Jayden Cooper this weekend, after Jayden jumped in. He says it was a combination of three people who saved the child's life.

Jayden is doing well after being revived at his birthday party. Over the phone, officer Jimmy Turner, who was off-duty at that party told KLTV Jayden had just learned to jump off the diving board.

"I think he got the guts and jumped off and just made one little splash and never came back up," said Turner.

He says a little girl noticed Jayden was at the bottom of the pool. He says she then tugged at her father who pulled the toddler out of the water.

"It was pretty much chaos, but it was an organized chaos to where everything just fell into place because that little boy is still here," said Turner. "He's going to be perfectly healthy and it really is a blessing from God and like I said He is the one who deserves all the glory.

For nearly two minutes, Turner says he gave Jayden CPR.

"It was just so amazing to sit there and watch him take that very first breath on his own; just absolutely amazing," said Turner.

Tyler Police Chief Gary Swindle says his officers are trained to act quickly; prepared to turn potentially tragic situations around.

"He was off at a party and the last thing you expect to do is have to spring into action and save somebody's life, but obviously he did," said Swindle.

"You know I just let God take over and do what I needed to do," said Turner.

He say because of that this story has a happy ending.
