A new attitude

SAN ANTONIO, TX (KLTV) -   Ask every player on the Cowboys defense to describe new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, and they all give the same answer.

"He's fun."

Ryan's fun, intense and  a bit cocky.

"Rob and I have a lot conversations throughout the day," said head coach Jason Garrett with a smile.

Ryan has already started the smack talk, somewhat suggesting the Cowboys would lay it to the 'All Hype Team.'  Also known as the Philadelphia Eagles.

"He's a very engaging guy," said Garrett.  "He's fun to be around as a fellow coach. Our players enjoy him. Confidence is what he brings. We're excited about that."

Confidence is needed for a defense that gave up the 2nd most points in the N.F.L. in 2010.

"We have a great coaching staff, smart players, so we're going to be fine," said Ryan.  "We don't have to make excuses. We have everything we need."

Cornerback Terence Newman says Ryan has swagger.  Maybe it's his size, maybe it's the hair.

"I told him before training camp he was going to make me grow my hair back out," said all pro linebacker Demarcus Ware.  "I don't have a hairline. You can always spot him out."

Ryan's message is spot on.

"He gets his message across to each and every person no matter who you are," said linebacker Keith Brooking.  "He's done a great job conveying to us in a very short time what he expects."

The expectation is to be great.

"His demeanor and attitude make you want to be the best you can be," said Newman.

The cowboys plan on being the best in 2011.  Just ask Rob Ryan.

Fall camp is a critical for every high school football program in East Texas, but when you only have one returning starter on offense, preseason practices become a little important. Featured on Monday night's Red Zone rundown, Henderson has a lot of talent to replace and knows capturing a third double-digit win season since 2014 won't be easy.
