CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – A woman says she was swindled out of several hundred dollars after responding to a phony job offer on Craigslist.
The 25 year old, who lives in center city Charlotte, told police she responded to a job listing for a personal assistant.
She negotiated a weekly salary with the suspect, and was sent a check for her services which exceeded the amount of her weekly salary.
The woman was told to deposit the check into her banking account.
She was told to keep the portion of her weekly salary and to send the difference of the check to another person.
The woman went to a grocery store and sent the extra money via a money order to the second suspect.
The woman said she later learned the check bounced, and that she had been swindled out of $2,600.
