VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A court hearing for Van Zandt County Commissioner Ricky LaPrade has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 22nd. The hearing is regarding a petition a Van Zandt County resident has filed in hope of removing LaPrade from office.
LaPrade's attorney Ken Herridge requested more time to prepare for the hearing. That request was granted by Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney Chris Martin.
Martin said in a press release, "I will do everything within my power to ensure that this civil issue with Commissioner LaPrade is resolved before the end of the year. We are optimistic that Comm. LaPrade will receive his jury trial in the latter part of November."
LaPrade is scheduled to be arraigned on DWI, resisting arrest and misapplication of fiduciary property charges on August 11th.
