Purple Heart Award 52 Years Late

A Jacksonville man has finally received his Purple Heart Award, 52 years after he was wounded in combat. Seventy-two-year-old Clinton Ramey is a Korean War veteran. He was wounded twice during the three battles he fought back in the early 1950s. But he says a fire destroyed the military records showing proof of Ramey's wounds.

Ramey is glad to have his award this Veterans Day and has a message for our soldiers overseas: "I'm proud of the soldiers that's in Iraq and is fighting for us over there. Keep the courage up and keep fighting for America. And maybe they'll get to come home pretty soon."

Ramey received several other medals he should have gotten more than five decades ago. He says he'll proudly display them in his home, reminding him of what he fought for so many years ago.
