Tyler, TX (KLTV) - A highly decorated East Texas soldier is now at home, and he had a big welcome party!
Sergeant Jonathon Brown spent five years in the U.S. Army, four of those years with the special forces. He has served in Iraq, and has been awarded three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star while serving our country.
He was discharged yesterday because of medical reasons and was taken by surprise when he got such a warm welcome.
"It makes me feel like it was worth it. Like all of it was worth it," Brown said.
Brown also said he looks forward to spending some time with his family and his friends. Brown was born in Tyler and went to school in Chapel Hill. He is married and has four children.
