JoAnn Fleming To Run for Smith County Office

Long-time Smith County leader Joann Fleming announced today she plans to resign as the President of the Taxpayers Association. Fleming says she plans to run for Precinct 1 County Commissioner in March.

Some of Fleming's goals are to improve roads throughout Smith County, and update out-dated technology in the department. Fleming says she feels it's important to encourage department employees and she says she'll take action to make it happen,"I pledge that if I'm elected as Precinct 1 County Commissioner, that I will dedicate one-half of my salary to the employee bonus and incentive fund that was begun this year."

If elected, Fleming will replace current County Commissioner Sharon Emmert. Emmert and Mayor Joey Seeber were among those who endorsed Fleming today.
