WHITEHOUSE, TX (KLTV) - After winning several awards from FFA in high school, 18-year-old Peyton Gilbert decided it was time to kick things up a notch.
He ran for FFA president at this year's convention and won. But, it wasn't an easy goal to achieve. Gilbert had to submit a writing sample, take a test and pass an interview with members of the FFA.
Over the next year he will be traveling all over the state to teach students about agricultural education and awareness. Afterwards he plans to attend a four-year university in Texas before heading off to law school.
