Jury Selection Begins For Man Accused of Shooting Deputy

Jury selection began Monday for the man accused of shooting a deputy and a hospital security guard last July. Inmate David Russell allegedly shot deputy Judy Cadenhead while she was escorting him to the Marshall Regional hospital.

Russell was getting a check-up on a previous injury. Police say while there, Russell fought with the deputy and a hospital security guard before shooting them both.  Neither were seriously injured. Russell escaped, but was captured later in Longview. Opening arguments are scheduled for Tuesday.
