GILMER, TX (KLTV) - The Upshur County Commissioners court opened with a long agenda Friday morning.
The first order of business was finding a new interim judge for the county. The county has to have a judge in place before work on the budget can begin.
At this time, the commissioners are in a closed executive meeting looking over all seven applicants for interim judge and are hoping to have a decision in about an hour.
Earlier the commissioners discussed paying some $13-thousand worth of attorney's fees for defending the county commissioners on the Official Oppression charges.
None of the four commissioners could come to a final decision on this and in the end the vote was split 2/2. It was put aside to be considered after the interim judge has been voted in.
