RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Forest Service says the fire in southern Rusk County is now contained.
The fire broke out Wednesday evening on FM 225 about a mile north of Laneville.
Steve Smith with the Texas Forest Service says an electric transmission line blackened approximately 17 acres.
One abandoned structure was destroyed in the blaze.
Contractors working at the nearby Bethel Baptist Church saw the blaze and immediately began dousing the flames from available water hoses.
At one point Wednesday evening, six families were blocked in by the fire on the dead-end road.
No one was injured, but one person was treated on site for smoke inhalation.
