TYLER, TX (KLTV) - At 4:38 Friday morning, Tyler fire crews responded to a house fire in the 1000 block of Lollar Street.

Tyler Police say when fire crews arrived, the home was engulfed in flames. Firefighters battled the  blaze for over an hour before having it contained.

Don Martin, Public Information Officer with the Tyler Police Department says the house was in the process of being leased, and the renters were still in the process of moving in. Martin says the home was not currently being lived in.

According to officials, a relative of the owner of the home stopped by around 7:30 am to search for salvageable items. That's when police say the relative discovered the charred body of a man in a closet of the burned residence.

Tyler Police have obtained and are currently executing a search warrant.

As of now, the case is being treated as a homicide.

Tyler Police, Tyler Fire, and the ATF are investigating.
