Tylerite announces run for Leo Berman's seat

On Monday, November 28, Schaefer filed to unseat the Long-time East Texas representative, Leo Berman.


TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tylerite Matt Schaefer announced on Thursday that he will run as a Republican for State Representative, District 6. This seat is currently held by another Tylerite---Leo Berman.

The focus of Schaefer's campaign message will be principles aimed at the core functions of Texas government.

"We have to be better at the basics," says Schaefer.

Schaefer is a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Reserve and has recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan.

Schaefer is the East Texas Regional Director for U.S. Senator John Cornyn, but plans to resign from that position to focus on the election.

His wife Jasilyn directs the TJC Apache Belles.
