UPDATE 07/13/11 3:49pm: The Wood County Sheriff's Office confirms that the suspected rapist of a 62-year-old woman was released from jail on Wednesday on an $80,000 bond.

UPDATE 7/7/11 7:39am: Bennie George turned himself into authorities early Friday morning, the Wood County Sheriff's Office says

WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) – Wood County authorities say a 62-year-old woman was brutally assaulted.

The alleged sexual assault happened on Wood County Road 2270 sometime overnight.

Authorities believe Bennie George, described as a white male in his 40's, is responsible for the assault.

"Deputies responded to the location and after responding to the location they it was discovered that a woman had been sexually assaulted," said Lt. Jerry Blaylock, Wood County Sheriff's Office.

The victim reportedly identified her attacker as Benjamin "Bennie" George.

Officials say George held the victim captive before she was finally able to escape and call for help.

"The woman sustained some injuries during the altercation where it was reported to us that she had been choked, as well as hit beat and physically raped," said Blaylock.

Blaylock say this is not George's first time to come in contact with the victim,

Blaylock says in the last two months George was arrested in both Van Zandt County and Wood County for assault family violence.

"Protective orders were issued in both of the cases so he had been ordered by the court to stay away from this individual," said Blaylock

Investigators say victim and George know each other, but they're not sure what their relation is.

Blaylock said George was last seen in the Lake Holbrook area.

They say they don't believe he is armed, but say he is very dangerous.

Wood County Officials are encouraging anyone who may have information on Benjamin George to call authorities immediately.
