GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Longview firefighters battled a brush fire between Warren and Pittman Roads, just north of Interstate 20, east of Eastman Rd, on Monday afternoon.
Authorities say winds, high heat, and the distance of which water hoses were being dragged made fighting the fire difficult.
Firefighters immediately contained the east side of the fire, as a Texas Eastman substation that works with natural gas, is nearby.
Nearly 100 tires, an abundance of dried wood and brush, and lots of trash added fuel to the fire, officials say.
Three structures were threatened in the fire; one, a very-old horse corral, was destroyed. A horse was rescued from the property.
Currently, firefighters are awaiting a dozer from the Forestry service.
Officials are not sure what started the blaze, but say it is now contained.
