GILMER, TX (KLTV) - It was fast and furious. The storm seemed to come from nowhere. But, the most serious damage was felt in the Gilmer area.
Rooftops in Downtown Gilmer were ripped off, a half dozen mobile homes in Evergreen Park were speared and slammed by falling trees.
The winds created a frightening few moments for some in trailers.
"You could feel the wind pushing on the trailer the trailer was actually tipping over," recalled Robert Dozier.
Some who were here at their homes were simply trying to relax, and within seconds tons of wood was crashing through their homes.
Downtown is still cutting away debris.
The Roberts Building downtown is a loss. Tons of lumber had to be removed from homes.
For some it was a stark wake up call.
Despite the damage, no injuries were reported. And those who had their homes damaged in Evergreen Park, were moved to other empty units.
