GILMER, TX (KLTV) - Upshur County has enacted a ban on the use of all fireworks.
Yesterday at 5:00 pm, acting presiding officer of the Upshur County Court, Commissioner James Crittenden, enacted an emergency 60 hour ban on the use of all fireworks in the County.
This morning commissioners authorized Crittenden to send the disaster declaration for Upshur County to the governor's office. If the governor approves the declaration the ban on the use of fireworks will be extended for seven days.
Fireworks can still be sold in the county, but cannot be used until after the ban is lifted.
