EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - As of this week, buying beer and wine is more convenient for people living in the cities of Mineola and Troup. Voters of both cities approved local alcohol sales in the May election.
Alcohol and wine sales are on the rise---now that it's legal to sell in Troup and Mineola.
City officials say economic development is already being impacted, with more revenue coming in through alcohol sales taxes.
And with 1.5% percent of the sales tax for the city, it will be just enough to make a difference.
Even though the selling rate shows high on charts so far, officials say they plan to keep their cities safe and clean places to live.
Both cities commented that their will be limitations on where the alcohol can be served in the city.
