TYLER, TX (KLTV) -Wednesday, the Tyler City Council voted unanimously to accept an agreement with the city of Lindale. The result-Tyler and Lindale have new extra territorial boundaries.
Tyler is giving Lindale a large piece of land just north of Interstate 20. In exchange, Tyler is receiving a small piece of land located just south of where Interstate 20 and Loop 49 will intersect.
This small piece of land is a hot spot for future development in Smith County.
Lindale City Manager Owen Scott says the new boundaries will improve each city's infrastructure.
Scott and Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass agree that this increased infrastructure will promote regulated growth in both cities.
