Former ETX band director sentenced in sexual assault case

MT. VERNON, TX (KLTV) - A former East Texas band director has been sentenced to prison for sexual assault and indecency with a child.

During a sentencing hearing in the Franklin County District Court Wednesday morning, Paul Bramlett's probation was revoked and he was sentenced to two 15 year prison sentences to be served concurrently.

Earlier this month, it was found that Bramlett lived less than 1,000 feet from a kids park in Fort Worth, which was a violation of his probation.

According to Hopkins County DA, Martin Braddy, during the hearing Bramlett admitted that there was an investigation stemming from allegations that he had an improper relationship with a student while he taught at Nolan Catholic School in Tarrant County, but there were no charges.

Due to the nature of this offense, Bramlett has to serve half of his sentence to be eligible for parole. As he ws sentencing him, the judge said the term predator applies to Paul Bramlett because that's what he is.

There is an ongoing investigation in Wood County that could result in additional charges.
