NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Nacogdoches man accused of forging documents in order to overturn the conviction of a woman responsible for the hired killing of her husband in 2006.
Sheriff Thomas Kerss said James Patrick Capps, 31, of Nacogdoches, falsified documents regarding the case of Marcia Kelly, who is serving a life sentence in the death of her husband. Capps even fabricated a notarized statement allegedly made by Texas Ranger Tom Davis, Kerss said.
Kerss said Capps has been sympathetic to Kelly since her arrest and was trying to get her conviction overturned. He even helped establish a website where the false documents were posted for public viewing at www.freemarciakelly.com.
Capps was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail on Tuesday evening.
