GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Gregg County officials say they are watching this wildfire situation closely.
Gregg County is not currently under a burn ban. But, County Judge Bill Stoudt says he can order a burning ban at any time.
"We are going to be meeting with the Fire Marshal here in Gregg County. We are going to be looking at the KBI, which is an index that measures the dryness. We're very close. I can order a burn ban, it's good for 10 days then we can take it to court to ratify," explained Judge Stoudt.
Judge Stoudt says he is waiting to see if we will get any rain this week before he makes a decision.
