CHICAGO (WLS/CNN) - An Illinois woman accepted a diploma on behalf of her son on Sunday.
Isaiah Carter, a student at Manley Career Academy High School in Chicago, was shot last November and died two weeks later.
His mother, Angel Brown, says she appreciates all of the support she has received.
"And I want to thank everybody for sharing Isaiah's life with me and my kids," Brown said. "You all just don't know it means a lot to me and I cannot thank you enough. I thank you once, I thank you twice, I thank you for the love of Jesus Christ."
No arrests have been made in connection to Carter's death.
Brown says her son was thinking about attending cooking school.
