DIBOLL, TX (KTRE) - Diboll Police have arrested a man accused of burning his girlfriend's five-year-old son twice with a camping lighter.

Jamaine Danard Rogers, 22, of Diboll, is charged with injury to a child, a third-degree felony.

According to Det. Brandan Lovell, the investigation began on June 6, when the boy's mother reported the incident to police. Police interviewed the boy and detectives obtained a warrant for Rogers' arrest on June 9.

"He burned him inside each of his legs," Lovell said. "That caused severe pain to the boy and left marks. We haven't interviewed the defendant yet, but it doesn't really matter to me the reason he has for doing it, just that he did it."

Lovell said police learned from relatives where Rogers was and arrested him on Friday.

Rogers was released from the Angelina County Jail on the same day on a $5,000 bond.
