Motorcycle accident claims life of Palestine man

Released by the Palestine Police Department:

PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) - On June 09, 2011 shortly before 9:00pm officers from the Palestine Police Department were dispatched to the 1600 block of Court Drive in reference to a traffic accident. The accident involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck.

The initial investigation indicated that the motorcycle was traveling west bound on Court Drive. There was a car traveling behind the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle attempted to turn left onto Bristol St. The third vehicle, the pickup truck, was also traveling west on Court Drive. The driver of the pickup attempted to pass the car and motorcycle to the left. The pickup truck collided with the motorcycle at the intersection of Court and Bristol.

The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 60 year old Keith Robert Gardner.  Mr. Gardner was thrown from the motorcycle upon impact with the truck. Mr. Gardner was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Justice of the Peace Gary Thomas.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as 50 year old Larry Wayne Adams.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. It will be determined at the conclusion of the investigation if any charges will be filed. The results of the investigation will be forwarded to the district attorney's office for review. The investigation is being conducted by Officer Marcos Lara and Officer Chad McCallister.
