Former ETX coach sentenced for improper relationship

MARSHALL, TX - A former Marshall teacher and coach has been sentenced for having an improper relationship with a student.

Andy Townsend, 29, was sentenced to six years probation and must pay a $2000 fine after entering a guilty plea to four charges of having an improper relationship with a student.

He will also have to give up his teaching certificate, and he can never re-apply.

Townsend who was a coach and ISS teacher at a Marshall school was arrested in February 2009 after an investigation revealed he sent inappropriate, sexually charged text messages to three minor female students.
