LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - An 8-year-old boy's quick thinking kept a barbecue from turning tragic when he saved his brother from drowning.
The Honee family were enjoying a day outside Saturday at their home in Spring Hill with dad grilling and the boys swimming.
"Jadyn said 'There's something wrong with Preston' and we immediately knew that he was having a seizure," explained Josh Honee, the father.
10-year-old Preston suffers from epileptic seizures and his brother Jadyn saw him floating in the pool.
Jadyn jumped in and held Preston's head above water. The Honee's quickly got Preston to a hospital. He was then taken to Dallas Medical Center where, after being checked out, he was fine.
"We're just so grateful Jadyn did what he did as quickly as he did. He's eight years old and he was so calm. I don't have the best words for it, but just a very proud dad," says Josh.
Jadyn takes it all in stride.
"He said thank you for helping me when I'm having a seizure in the water, and I said 'you're welcome,'" says Jadyn.
Jadyn says he will not let Preston go swimming without him from now on.
