Yamboree Festival Begins in Gilmer

It's the Super Bowl, World Series , and Stanley Cup all rolled into one for the city of Gilmer.  It's the Yamboree Festival. The 66th annual Yamboree is gearing up for what many say is going to be the biggest year ever.

It's attended by thousands of visitors each October because of its small town charm. With events like pie and canning competitions, and the state-fair-like livestock judging. With more rides... More attractions... And of course more food.

"This is actually a homecoming for people who lived in gilmer and have moved away , if they don't do anything the rest of the year they will come back this one time to catch up with family and friends," says Yamboree president Wayne Skinner.

"This festival is a good occasion , brings all people together not matter where your from come to the festival you will enjoy yourself, once you come you're gonna want some more," said Pittsburgh visitor Willie Suggs.

Saturday morning at 11 o'clock, you can catch the Queen's Parade.
