TROUP COUNTY, GA (WTVM) –  Five occupants driving a small car on Highway 27 met with tragedy Wednesday.

A Department of Transportation mower struck a rock while inside the right-of-way ahead of the car.

The rock flew through the air after the bush hog hit it, crashing through the front window and grazing the front passenger.

It then passed to the rear driver's side. The passenger, Annie Lee, was struck by the rock and killed instantly.

The other passengers reported only minor injuries.

The Troup County coroner tells News Leader 9 Lee's body has been sent to the crime lab for an autopsy. No other details surrounding the incident are known at this time.
