Whitehouse Cub Scouts refurbish memorial

WHITEHOUSE, TX (KLTV) - Pack 359 Cub Scouts re-dedicated the Daniel B. Walker War Memorial that sits outside the Oakbrook Nursing Home.

Residents of the nursing home joined members of a World War II community to build the memorial in honor of Daniel B. Walker of Whitehouse. He died in 1991 while serving as a marine during Desert Storm.

Over the years, the memorial was vandalized and it's eagle was removed.  Two years ago, the boys of Pack 359 came together to bring the memorial back to life.

They raised money for the memorial by building and selling bird houses.  Together, they refurbished the granite of the memorial, landscaped a garden that surrounds it and replaced the eagle.
