Tyler Offers Tax Abatements to Get 140 New Jobs

The Tyler City Council has given the OK to tax abatements, aimed at drawing about 140 new jobs to town.

Howe-Baker Engineering currently employs about 670 people in Tyler. It was purchased two years ago by CBI Incorporated of Houston. The city is offering CBI tax abatements to the tune of $66,000, so they can add 140 jobs at a proposed new facility on the East side of the city.

A decision by CBI is expected within a few weeks.
