Released by The Tyler Police Department:

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas man is behind bars for burglarizing a building.

Sunday, just after 7:00 pm, Tyler police were on routine patrol when they heard a burglar alarm going off in the area of north Broadway Avenue and Queen Street.

Around the same time, they found 28-year-old Juan Escobedo-Gutierrez, an injured intoxicated male, walking down the street.

He told them he had been robbed by two unknown males.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Officers found that the burglar alarm was coming from New Days Community Church located in the 900 block of north Broadway.

The injured man they found walking along Queen Street was actually the man who broke into the church.

Escobedo-Gutierrez was later booked into the smith county jail on a burglary of a building charge, a state jail felony.
