Kilgore church lending a hand to Joplin families

KILGORE, TX (KLTV) – Relief for the devastated people of Joplin is already coming from East Texas.

Members of the Nazarene Church in Kilgore are among those collecting food and essentials that are being packed in the crisis care kits.

Volunteers will hand deliver the care kits to people in the Joplin area starting Friday.

"I know exactly where it goes. It goes right straight with me. I'm going to be hand delivering it to the people. It's not going to be going through any middle person. I only got instructions as to where to drop it off and where to hand it out and I like that. I like knowing that it's getting right to the people," says Lori Cox, an organizer for Joplin Tornado Relief.

Donations can be made at the Nazarene Church on Sabine Street in Kilgore. The group plans on making trips every four to six weeks with much needed food and clothing for tornado victims in Joplin.
