A former Van Zandt County assistant district attorney has been indicted for possession of methamphetamine. Fifty-three year old Michael Rodgers was involved in a traffic accident near Ben Wheeler in August. He was treated at the scene for injuries, where paramedics found what appeared to be drugs in his shirt pocket. Field tests have now confirmed he did have meth on him. If convicted, Rodgers faces up to a year in jail and a minimum of $1,000 in fines.
