Gilmer Airshow Organizers Remember Plane Crash Victims

Organizers of the Gilmer airshow today remembered the couple who were killed when their plane crashed outside of Van yesterday. Ernest and Marketta Woodard participated in the airshow this weekend and were flying back home to Georgetown with their team when their plane disappeared.

The couple was part of a six member flying formation team. Organizers say they are still in shock after learning one of the planes didn't make it safely home.

"None of us want to get into a situation where it would become an accident where it would become a fatality either of ourselves our wife like in this case. So we were saddened that it happened," says Steve Dean, director of the airshow.

The remains of the plane were scattered nearly 100 yards away. The Woodards had just encountered heavy rains before the accident. The exact cause remains under investigation.
