Longview woman gets off work to watch Oprah one last time

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) – After 25 years, the last episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show aired Wednesday. For one East Texas woman, the big day was almost too much to handle.

Glenda Anderson of Longview loves Oprah so much that her boss gave her the day off just so she could spend one last hour with a woman she calls her best friend.

Glenda says she is the biggest Oprah fan on the planet. Even the family, friends and Oprah cupcakes couldn't stop the tears as she watched the final show.

"It's like losing your very best friend, it really is. She's been a part of my life ever since I was a young woman coming up. She's influenced me in so many ways, and encouraged me," says Glenda.

Glenda works at night and says she spends every day with Oprah, watching as she gets ready for work. But in preparation for today, she was watching a lot more.

"I've got 82 shows on the DVR taped. Last night I came in at 3:00 am and I just started watching Oprah, until 6:30 or 7:00 this morning," added Glenda.

Glenda's daughter says that she can barely think of her mom without thinking about the TV icon, and it was partly her mom's tears that forced her to help plan this watch party.

"We wanted to do something for her because she was going to sit at home and be sad," says Valencia Williams, Glenda's daughter.

Glenda says that she is planning to make some changes to her television service so she can be sure and tune in to her favorite TV personality on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
