Gift of Love: Mariah

An afternoon at the zoo is always an adventure and for 4 year old Mariah, she had a special treat! Feeding the giraffes!

But they were a little too big and scary for Mariah so we headed over to check out the goats instead.

This 4 year old loves being around people, is playful and enjoys new things.

"She is very talkative normally, she's  bubbly, likes to have fun. she's just a sweet little girl," CPS Specialist Kim Rhodes said.

But those new things don't really include goats either! We finally found something this girly girl loves, shopping in the zoo gift store!

Mariah usually prefers to play inside.

"She likes to play with trucks and dolls and her favorite place to eat is McDonalds," Rhodes said.

But that's not all she likes!

I asked Mariah, "Do you like pizza? Mariah: Yes. Jennifer: What kind of pizza? Mariah: pepperoni!!"

Mariah is very bright and loves school.  Right now she is in the head start program. She enjoys school and interacts well with other students most of the time.

Mariah also loves to sing her favorite song, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," Mariah said.

Mariah has some difficulty with speech articulation and will need help and encouragement from a loving family.  Mariah also has three siblings.  Due to each of the children's needs, the children will be placed separately.  It's important for Mariah's forever family to encourage her to keep in touch with her siblings and to know that they are ok.

Trust and safety are big issues for this young girl. She can be sometimes be aggressive and is learning the right way to let out frustrations.

"A lot of the reaction she has to things are because of trauma she's had in the past. She needs to feel safe before she can adjust those behaviors, Rhodes said.

And what Mariah needs most is a home that can show her the Gift of Love.
